Kenton Street Fair

When I moved into this neighborhood about a year and a half ago, it became readily apparent how close knit (literally-check out the bike post knitting bombs that line N Denver Ave) the Kenton community is.
After attending some great third Thursday gatherings last summer at the Bamboo Craftsman Company and Salvage Works-plus free tastings at Lilac Wines-it was also a delight to discover that the Kenton neighborhood knows how to have a good time.
The Kenton Street Fair was a rocking, colorful, and tasty good time. Roller Derby girls kicked it off by bombing down N Denver. I kicked it off with coffee and a yummy from Posies. Next came the fierce coaster car race. Everywhere I looked there were smiling people, smiling dogs and even a smiling cat (no really-he was on this man’s shoulder, just hanging out like it was no big thing). I saw the guy from Black Star Bags show a bunch of kids how to change a flat bike tire. There were 5 different music stages. Mix ‘n’ Match Creamery had a stand with a mile long line. Kenton Station was even more hopping than usual. The demonstrations by the guy and gal at the Pole Palace booth were jaw dropping. Kids were getting their faces painted by princesses. I decided I was too old for face painting, and had to deal with the slight twinge of jealousy when I saw other ladies with lovely decorated faces. I had to tell myself it would just get on my camera, anyway.
