About Jai

I was captured by the camera at an early age. My great grandfather made the decision to forgo a career as an engineer to become a photographer, moving his wife and children to Oregon and forming a successful family photography business. Owning a few of great grandfather’s cameras and printing his 5X7″ negatives continues to inspire me as I enjoy working in the digital age. So you see, it’s in my nature.

Attending the Art Institute of Seattle’s photography program on full scholarship was a tip of the hat to those that came before me. When I’m not behind a camera, I love to cook farm to table feasts, enjoy local wine and beer, ride the bicycle my fella custom built for me, and get lost in a good book.

Most of the brides in these wedding galleries have also enjoyed my professional experience and natural approach to make up for photography. My make up artistry and photography have been published in Portland Monthly and Portland Bride and Groom magazines, as well as several business websites.

Blending “photojournalistic storytelling with romantic, well crafted portraiture plus a bit of photo ninja action” is the best compliment I’ve ever received from a bride and groom. A wedding is a family affair—a celebration of two people joining families and sharing friends with a story to tell that is unique. I’d be honored to illustrate yours.
